You're a PHP programmer and you know all about the latest and greatest frameworks. You are also pretty good with Wordpress themes and plugins. PHP seems to be the language for you... But, there's one framework... Or better yet 'language' that you keep hearing about called 'Ruby'.
So many web application developers are all hyped up about this language. The reason is because using the popular framework 'Ruby on Rails', built on Ruby, web programmers are able to rapidly build stable web applications that would normally take a lot longer and have more bugs using PHP.
Well, where do you start? Opening up a programming book that dumps out only logic and structure seems a little too daunting. So, instead why not start off with a story.... Oh, and not just any story, this comical online book will have you laughing and learning at the same time. I'm talking about Why's Poignant Guide to Ruby.
In Why's Poignant Guide, you will be taken by the hand and taught variables, methods, functions, and much more about using the ruby language. In the meantime, you'll also be following a funny dialog by cartoon comic strips. Not only is the online book very educational, but the authors demented sense of humor keeps you intrigued and interested.
If you are going to go anywhere to learn Ruby, I would definitely start with Why's Poignant Guide to Ruby. I am currently only on the fifth chapter of the online book, which is why I'm going to finish this article right here, so I can get back to learning Ruby :)
